Guess I am going to paint DDs room

You know I really don't want to start this project before Thanksgiving, but it does seem like the smartest thing to do.  She has been wanting me to paint her room blue for a while now.  Since the roof was leaking in her room and I had to take the bed apart and move some of the stuff out of there anyway, it does seem like I should just probably go ahead and do it.  But, that really isn't what I wanted to do right now.  DH is goiing to work on the roof this weekend.  Think I will go ahead and do the ceiling too.  I guess that way we will know for sure if it is leaking again.

Are you feeling up to doing that right now? If I was there, I'd do it for you. I hope he can get that leak fixed so you all don't have this issue anymore. What color of blue does she want? I hope you feel better before the holidays start dear. I am sure it will look nice when it's done.

I was thinking the same thing.  Do you think you should be working that hard so soon after being sick.  This is another example of a time that we should all live in the same neighborhood.  We could come and help you.  ~Dan~

Gosh Cindy, I don't know if I'd really be doing any painting if I were you... but, you know best on how you're feeling... If it were me, I think I'd still be laying low for a tad bit longer...till I was real sure that I was over that nasty flu! You definately don't want it to get any worse for you, I'm sure. I'd leave some of those furniture & items out till next week or the week after.. then think about painting her room possibly then. I'm sure she'd understand that her Mom doesn't feel up to par just yet to be painting it. Just let her know it'll get done, only not as soon as you had thought. You've got to think of yourself sometimes too Cindy!

I agree with Dan and the others, that it's too bad that we all don't live in the same neighborhood, so that we'd be close enought to be able to help each other out... whether it be decorating, painting, whatever...happy

Okay, I know you are all right.  You see the thing is I have a real problem with just sitting.  It drives me crazy.  So when I said I was too sick to sew/embroider etc.... I was really sick.  Doing nothing drives me insane.  Also have the house look the way it does, is driving me nuts.  The basement is tore up because of the water heater and the leaking wall.  The upstairs is a mess due to DD's room leaking and my mom's cabinet (the top half in the dining room).  The garage is a mess because of the bottom half of my mom's cabinet and DH was going to work on a snowblower etc....  I can't take it any more.  Plus, I am seeing online where others are decorating for Christmas and I have that new (well new to me) twig Christmas tree I got at that garage sale this year that I am really dieing to put up.  So, since I was feeling a little bit better yesterday I started to paint the top part of my mom's cabinet.  Here shortly if I can get the garage warmed up a little I am going to paint the inside of the bottom half of the cabinet.  DH needs to fix the "feet" on the cabinet, so I can't do the top etc.... yet.  I am also going to try to "help out" the garage some.  Then if I can get DD's room in order I can get her mattress and box springs out of the hallway and the misc stuff of hers out of my bedroom.  So I do know I probably shouldn't do it, but if I don't I will go crazy.  If that makes sense....

I agree with everybody else but If your anything like me. You'll just go ahead and do it. All I can say is if you decide to paint. Just take your time and don't rush yourself. If you feel like your getting tired or weak. Take a break. If you have to . Ask the kids to help you or ask a friend to come over. If I lived closer, I would paint the room for you. I love to paint. I would wait on the ceiling. Ceilings takes a lot more out of you plus you wanna make sure you have your leaks fixed.

Don't forget to post pictures when your done.

Patti

Ok~ Cindy, I understand you friend! LOL! Believe me, I do. I can't stand to do nothing either. IF you MUST paint, only start with ONE wall, and do it in sections, just get that completed. The reason I'm saying that is, you don't want to see lines where you stopped and started. This way, if you get tuckered out, you can stop and start again later.

We all just care~ we don't want you to relapse. I wish I were Samantha the witch and I could just twitch my nose and appear at your door! I would just do it for you.

I also understand you wanting to put Christmas up! OML~ we MUST be cut from the same cloth! I am DYING to put my stuff up, and yet, here I am waiting, waiting for my floors to get finished because my DH doesn't always LISTEN to me about things like starting in the right spot! LOL! It's finally done, but it WOULD have been much sooner IF he had LISTENED to me. So, now he's at work, and here I am and I can't do these other detail areas so I could put any of the rest in. AM I TEMPTED... Yes, but I don't trust myself sometimes so I'll wait.

Someone said, Life is nothing more than a long line... I think they're on to something!

Hang in there Cindy~ it'll get done, and it will be great!wink

I tend to agree with everyone here about waiting until you are sure the roof isn't going to leak.  If it still leaks and you have to repaint, depending on the type of paint you use, touching up always shows and you will end up painting the entire area again.

But I also understand about wanting to get it done.  Good luck.

Well the room is painted!  I touched up the ceiling just because I really couldn't stand looking at the brown mark.  It's okay, I can still tell, but probably no one else could unless I mentioned it.  I will go over it again when I know for sure it is totally fixed.  DH thinks that the problem may have been caused by oak leaves that accumulated in the "valley" of the roof and then the water backed up under the shingles.  He worked on it yesterday and again today.  I sure hope it is fixed.  Anyway, DD's room is called Aqua Wave or Aqual Light, it really looks robin's egg blue.  It does seem to look different though at different times of the day with the light coming in from outside etc.....  I will post a pic tomorrow for you.  I am still trying to get her to move the rest of her stuff back in her room.  She still has stuff in the hall and dining room.  It does feel good to have it done.  I did do one wall at a time, but you know once I started I pushed to get all four walls done.  Then this morning I went in and touched it up.

Well Felicia,  now all of a sudden I don't feel so  bad.  You poor girl!  It does seem like it is always something doesn't it?  My DH doesn't hire anyone to do anything either.  It is hard to find good help these days.  I hope things get better for you too.  {{{hugs}}}

The color you painted sounds very pretty! Glad you're feeling better too. It does seem that good help IS hard to find these days. You just end up being better off doing it yourself in most instances.

We'll love seeing pictures of course. Is your daughter loving it?

Cindy~love your new avatar. When I was 12 years old. My bedroom was painted robins egg blue with

white curtains. Can you believe my bedroom at my parents house is still the same color but more primitive looking...lol The paint job is still in pretty good shape after 28 years. My daughter wants me to paint her walls a cream color with turquoise and brown accent. I was thinking about painting the trim in her room brown and stencil a turquoise and brown design around the top of the room.

Ha,  You do realize I just won't tell you all if I get sick again from doing this!  I would hate to hear "I told you so".

Here's the pics of DD's room.  She does like the color.  Thank goodness, as I don't intend to redo it for awhile.

I don't know what she did with the sham to match that duvet cover!
