Okay Hi people, Im new at this. I was working for skills program where they have magazine they were getting rid of and i notice country sampler caught my eyes into. I went home look at all the stuff they have in the catalog. Well let me tell how primitive/ country decorations are becoming very popular. Tell you all that im young dont be surprise im 22 years old and addicted to primitive decorations. Alot of girls i graduated with and who are few years younger than me are decorating their home in country style its unbelieveable. I thought at first aww man im getting little old and thought would like my home to be just plain different then years goes by all the girls my age and younger decided to do the same lol. I guess its the feeling of "home sweet home". Let me tell you all my ideas. I LOVE TO MAKE THINGS. I go to yard sales to yard sales and find antique things that are actually 25 cents - 10.00! OR a relative that plan to give their old things away tell them NO ILL TAKE IT! I find picture frames that are old and paint them and sand them. I use country style primitive fabric and glue them on my lamp shade and my lamp has an lantern i'll have to take pictures sometimes. Made my fish tail swag curtain handles with a barn star on it. You might need a man hands to help such as drill on hard tough woods or scraping old glue. To be honest about antique store BECAREFUL, sometimes they are toooo pricey depends on where you go to. Fleamarket are too. I love to put my decorations that has some memory in them such as quilt hanging my mother gave me her baby quilt that was made by my great aunt she has never done much to it. She loves how i decorate my home and felt sooo good where i display her blanket on my wall. My old family pictures that looks antique sometimes if you want to make ur new pictures into antique colors by computer. Quilts are very exspensive where they are handmade if some cant afford it go to walmart they have some very nice ones sometimes relatives dont want them for some reasons. I live with my boyrfriend for 3 years ive been keeping my country decorations for a year now and still want to keep doing it. We thought about looking for a new home according to economy problems we decided few more years in this little home. We decided to remodel the house alittle bit suchs as carpet and wall painting, im starting to decorate countrys in the whole house. Its kinda hard where the things you collect before and decide to change and relize all that money you spent on those stuff like my grapes collection i might as well sell a few and combine the grape with countries style in my kitchen. I bet people who collect chickens and apples are very simple.Well its midnight and im getting tired so thought maybe you all are interesting in my ideas because i dont mind giving them all out.

Amanda, I just love that such a young person is involved in country prim decorating, and so interested in being creative and frugal. You have a lot of really excellent ideas! Try not to worry too much about money spent on decor you no longer like; we all have done it; maybe consider it part of earning a degree in your very own style and taste. And if you can resell some things on Craigslist or at your own yard sale, someone else is sure to be delighted to take up your old style. That's the most fun kind of recycling.
Please do post photos; I'd especially love to see how you make new photos look old. Do you have a special program for that?
Keep those ideas coming!

Hi Amanda! I am actually the same age as you and also addicted to primitives. Lol. Some of my friends still do make fun of me for it but I have at least two friends that I have converted. Don't feel bad about your grape collection. I did the apple thing in my kitchen and I am just growing out of it already. I am in the middle switching my style in my kitchen. Anyway, welcome to the forum!!
