I have two huge hanging baskets on my front porch, that are petunias, but they are starting to look really awful. I dont know what I did wrong. When I bought them, they were lush and vibrant.
Any ideas on what I can do to save them? This seems to happen every year.
I think I did feed them MiracleGrow Bloom Booster feed, but not sure if I should do that
again. Please help!!!

Gosh! I am not for sure what is wrong. Maybe they have gotten too much water, not enough water, too much sun, or not enough sun. I am not much help, am I...lol? Dan

Petunias get really "leggy" looking after awhile. You need to cut them half way back, and they'll rejuvenate in a few weeks. ONLY use the Miracle Grow every 14 days, if you do it too soon, it can burn the plants. Is the area getting full sun? They need at least 6 hours of full sun. Good luck to you.

Sound like they need to be cut back.

If they look crispy, too much sun and not enough water.
If they don't have flowers, not enough sun. Be sure to dead head them as well.
Don't feel bad, I have heard many people complaining about their containers plants this year. They weather is just too weird.

Donna, funny you say that. Our cucumbers in this area are not doing at all. Even the greenhouses were complaining that they would just rot off. My mom had to sow hers 3 times before they decided to come up. It is indeed a funny year! My garden should be lush and growing and it looks like I just planted it and I did a month ago.

Jill I'm with you, just remember they really over fertilize their baskets to make them bloom, before you buy them, give them a good dose of miracle grow once a week and you'll see them bloom again, also remember they are in prim locations in greenhouses before we buy them...it's kind of like a tease isn't it!! My geraniums that I bought are looking alittle under the weather so I have to do the same. You can also deadhead your petunias so the growth goes back into the flowers not making seeds.
Good luck, Angela
