OMG!!!  This is the best surprise ever!!  Hubby made me a ladder!!!  I am so excited!  I was admiring one in the lastest issue of CS but it was something like $30.  I showed hubby the pic and he just kind of shrugged.  Well, today he surprised me with a homemade one!!  I have attached pics and would like to know if you guys think I should paint it black and then distress it or if I should stain it to kind of match the fireplace.

Didn't he do a wonderful job???!!!!   Thanks for all your input.

Donna ... What a sweet hubby you have!  That ladder looks wonderful!  I think it would look great either way ... stained with a wood stain or painted black & distressed ... but I think I'd lean more toward painting it black & distressing it.  I think it would kind of make it stand out from the other wood in that area.  If it were stained with a wood stain I think it would just kind of blend & "become one" with the other wood.

Blessings,

Shirlee

Lucky you !!!!!  I'd go with the black, too.  It's great to have someone who shares your ideas for decorating.  My hubby doesn't say too much...but, just can't understand why I would want someones old junk instead of NEW!!!!!

He did a great job on the ladder!  I would paint it black and distress it also.  Black seems to be my color of choice these days.

Very nice ladder! Sweet of your DH to make one for you. I'd paint it, so it will be more prominent.
